What if Your Biggest Doubts Were Your Biggest Strengths? Transforming Negative Thinking into Business Success
Unlocking the Potential of Negative Thinking to Cultivate a Stronger Entrepreneurial Mindset
Today I’d like to talk to you about negative thinking as a lever for boosting our business, and our life. Many people tend to run away from negative thoughts. We’re told that negative thoughts are black and thoughts are white. But it’s much more complicated than that.
Combatting Negative Thoughts: Understanding the Origin of Self-Sabotage
The voices in your head that tell you that “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never succeed “are your most obsessive negative thoughts. These thoughts can be transformed into positive affirmations, but without finding their origin, they can be difficult to believe. You may find yourself stuck in survival mode with self-sabotaging mechanisms in place. These mechanisms are subconscious systems that were set up to cope with trauma, often rooted in childhood experiences where you didn’t feel safe, confident, or reassured due to the actions of those around you. It’s important to identify and understand the roots of these thoughts to overcome self-sabotage and move forward.
Exploring the Roots of the Power of Negative Thoughts
Let’s say you wet the bed as a child. You’re embarrassed, so you cry or confide in your parents. Depending on their reaction, there are two possible scenarios:
The parents provide comfort, change the bedding, and assure the child that it’s not a big deal.
The parents become angry, and annoyed by the disturbance, and scold the child harshly. They display the sheets to everyone to shame the child into not repeating the mistake. This experience causes the child to develop a sense of self-reliance and isolation since they can no longer trust others to help them when they’re in trouble. Whenever they encounter similar situations, their subconscious mind will generate negative thoughts like “Watch out! It’s dangerous.”
You strive to continuously improve yourself and your business. You want to build an empire, live a balanced life, and create a fulfilling career that aligns with your life goals. However, when you hit a plateau or face setbacks, it’s easy to fall into a cycle of self-criticism and doubt. Negative self-talk can become a roadblock to achieving your dreams.
But what if these negative thoughts were a way of taking care of yourself at that moment when you're reliving a time when emotionally; you weren't protected, because your parents at that time were emotionally unavailable? You're reproducing what your parents or your environment did. So you're going to feel ashamed, frustrated, and sad, and you're going to stop taking actions that will help you move toward that dream.
Negative thinking is the secret hack for your mindset
Demonizing negative thoughts is not the answer. Instead, consider that it may be your inner child trying to get your attention. By neglecting yourself, you may be reliving past feelings of abandonment and becoming emotionally unavailable. These thoughts can prevent you from taking the necessary steps to sell because you feel inadequate. However, these thoughts are temporary, and it’s crucial to enjoy the journey, not just focus on the end goal. When we prioritize sales over everything, we forget ourselves and hinder our ability to connect with our community. We don’t have to be perfect to succeed. Selling is more than a marketing strategy, and even with training and coaching, entrepreneurs can still fail. After working with many successful women who earn between 30k to 100k a month, it’s clear that the right mindset is key.
Understanding Yourself to Achieve Your Goals
Here’s an example: let’s say you want to lose weight. You tend to eat your emotions, but you’re not sure why. You’re self-critical and disconnected from your true self. Furthermore, you feel alone and struggle to see your beauty. You’re afraid of failure and constantly feel like you’re not good enough, which leads to negative thinking. You may even put on a facade to avoid criticism. This cycle can be exhausting and discouraging, leading you to look for solutions outside yourself.
When you’re in this cycle of negative thoughts, accept them. I’m not saying that if you’re in deep depression or burnout, you need to go and see a doctor, but if you know that it’s not that. You have to start accepting these thoughts and telling yourself that, even if you can’t transform them into positive thoughts, it means it’s time for you to settle down.
If you want to have hundreds or even thousands of clients, you have to feel good about yourself. If you want to help, transform people’s lives as you know you do, because you know you deserve to have a big impact. My community is made up of women who dream big, dream of doing conferences, and retreats, of creating a real connection with their audience, their customers, so as not to be just another financial transaction, but a deeper relationship. You need to be able to tell yourself the truth, which you’re not obliged to share, but which will enable you to put up your barriers, know your values, and, above all, avoid clients who are looking to be saved, but who want to work with you, because it’s you. This will allow you to detach yourself from the end result, and to fall in love with the journey, looking back at all the ground you’ve covered.
But, based on my experience with clients and successful women, the greatest progress is made when you face your truth and focus on personal growth. This involves breaking free from emotional barriers and being honest with yourself. By doing so, you’ll find that you’re more capable than you thought and more legitimate to share your unique talents with the world.
Accept Negative Thoughts to Create a Positive Mindset and Build a Strong Client Base
When you find yourself caught up in a cycle of negative thoughts, don’t fight them. While it’s important to seek help if you’re experiencing deep depression or burnout, sometimes it’s just a matter of accepting these thoughts and acknowledging that they’re a signal to take a step back and regroup.
To attract and retain hundreds or even thousands of customers, it’s crucial to feel good about yourself and the work you do. That’s the key to transforming people’s lives and making a real impact. As part of my community of ambitious women, we aspire to create deep relationships with our audience and customers, going beyond just a financial transaction. To achieve this, it’s essential to be honest with yourself about your values and goals. This clarity will help you establish boundaries and avoid customers who are looking to be saved, rather than those who genuinely want to work with you.
Remember, success is not just about the result, but also about the journey. Take time to appreciate how far you’ve come and enjoy the process of growing your business.
How to identify these negative thoughts?
Journaling Together: A Unique Way to Work on Your Inner Self
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to you for taking the time to read this. I understand that you are committed to making your dreams a reality. Let’s try something new today — journaling together — to focus on your personal development. I used to avoid my emotions, but now I take a walk, reflect, and record my thoughts in a journal. Although people give me odd looks, I don’t let that discourage me. I need this time to reflect.
Here are some quotes to consider:
When you have negative thoughts, what do you typically do?
Do you turn to food?
Do you scroll through social media?
Do you call a friend?
Do you criticize yourself?
Do you play games?
Do you drink?
Take a moment to examine your self-image. How do you envision yourself when you achieve your goal? What do you think of yourself daily? Are you proud of how far you’ve come, or do you believe that it’s not enough?
What does achieving this goal say about you? Are you doing it for yourself or others?
