Are You an Internal Student? Here’s Why You’re Not Attracting Your Dream Clients Consistently
From Baby Entrepreneur to True Leader: My Journey to Authenticity
When I started my business in 2020, I religiously followed YouTube videos on how to get clients and create a company. I invested in myself by hiring coach after coach to learn content strategy and master the "magical" carousel structure that would supposedly bring me followers and clients. I spent hours creating content, drawing inspiration from my coaches, only to end up with a single like and a comment saying, "You're so inspiring." While my ego was pleased, I knew I was attracting people who didn't see me as an authority and wouldn't take action to send me a DM or buy my offers. I followed all the advice from coaches who told me to work more and post more. I remained in this student phase, this "baby entrepreneur" stage, until April.
That's when I realized my content bored me, and it also created a fear of producing content that actually pleased me.
What were the consequences?
I was stuck in a cycle where I spent my days on Canva, searching for hooks on my phone, trying to understand which structure to use for each post. I created Instagram posts and stories that were identical to those of others because I was afraid to be myself. As a result, I attracted people who weren't self-led and who would never say yes in the first place. It wasn't because of the algorithm or the followers.
It was because of me. I was afraid to step out of what I had learned and to test new things to find my own style. Paradoxically, I did this for my clients, but I was afraid to do it for myself.

Moreover, I always said yes to creating content to please others, attracting clients for whom I had to do everything without ever being thanked. They complained while taking no action themselves. I was in people-pleasing mode, just out of fear of losing followers and clients, even though I was bored to death in my business. If I wanted to help coaches and entrepreneurs create a six-figure business, I couldn't attract people I had to constantly reassure and convince that I was the best for them when they weren't my dream clients. What I was doing was diluting my message instead of attracting clients who move 10X faster than what I say to do, like me, and are high achievers.
, I was afraid to speak up and show myself as a leader because I wanted to help everyone instead of creating content and offers for people who are already taking action, true leaders who need coaching, not babysitting.
Furthermore, I started to feel lost in my business, afraid to post and share what I really wanted. I had so many topics I wanted to address, but I was paralyzed.
Why I was so afraid?
The truth is, I was afraid to be myself. I needed to stop living in the past. Many women entrepreneurs are afraid to say what they really want for fear of objections or losing followers. But what if I tell you that losing followers and saying what you really think is okay? I was presenting a facade of myself, just out of fear. So how can I create a community that loves me for who I am instead of being a person who puts up barriers due to an obsession with perfection? Perfection can't be defined. Under the pretext of wanting to be perfect, I couldn't perfect my writing style.
Not posting what we really want is a form of gatekeeping because we're not giving the true version of ourselves, thinking it's not like this person or the current trend. We tend to parent our audience and then wonder why we attract clients who obsess over numbers and data, who need constant reassurance and motivation to take action. We attract people who ask us to verify every action, every post, or their titles. We attract baby entrepreneurs because we do the same thing. I remember when I was paralyzed to post because I thought my hooks weren't good enough or my English wasn't perfect. I spent hours waiting for approval and permission from my coaches. I understood that I needed to be a better leader because I saw myself as small. This fueled my fear of selling and getting clients because I wasn't talking about my offers.
This is why many entrepreneurs struggle to have regular clients and think they're lucky when they do, because they mother their clients and followers by creating offers that are not at their level. Your dream clients demand more. This creates women who aren't paid their true worth because they're afraid to raise their standards for themselves. They tend to make excuses and are tired of hearing followers say they're too expensive or that they don't have time, or of having to babysit them. But it starts with working on your message, which needs to be more specific to your ideal client (if you're struggling with this, download my ebook to work on your message) to stop being an eternal student. Move from the camp of fear and worry about doing things wrong, to leaving the student status behind to test, experiment, and discover who you were born to be and your unique way of being an entrepreneur.
Conclusion
The hardest part isn’t applying a strategy. The real challenge is breaking free from what successful coaches or trends tell you to do, so you can find your own voice. People don’t need another copycat—they need a fresh perspective that only you can bring through your unique story. Sure, it’s important to stay updated with the latest tactics, but never at the cost of losing yourself. Otherwise, you’ll just end up posting or creating like a robot, losing sight of why you started in the first place, and attracting people who are drawn to the facade you’re putting up.
You need to rise above that and speak to people who want to be treated as equals—those who aren’t afraid to be challenged or pushed out of their comfort zone because they’re seeking real transformation.
